Tony, <the exotic measures they go to are not warranted for a 6% performance improvement.>

The improvement on those codes is exactly the same
as any improvement what would be gained on any
processor going from 800MHz to 1000MHz. Floppermine
included. Therefore I guess the notched gates,
jacked up voltage, miserable yields from four
multi-billion Fabs can be called "the exotic
measures" as well. Probably much more exotic
than the Kryotech cooler. All just to get into
1GHz.

BTW, modern household fridges usually work 10-15+
years without a glitch. The Kryotech unit is
just an ordinary small-unit fridge. Off the GE
shelf, nothing more.

<if you have the experience, which I have.>
Do you?

Tony Re <<Some things are just intuitively obvious, if you have the experience, which I have.>>

All I can say is that I clearly do not see it this way.

Dear Tony and all: There have been several posts regarding Kryotech. I happen to be friends of the wife of one of the principals of this private company who incidentally would like to go public. Can anyone tell me if this is a viable product with any real future? JDN
