Dear, as you know full well, I have read The Great Divorce many times. BTW, it is not only to repent but also to cast off the corruptions into sin of the fundamentally healthy and God-given. That no one is good enough to stand in the presence of God is, indeed, a basic premise of Christianity; we pray for mercy rather justice, remember. Personally, I have some doubt about whether God is as as legalistic and hair-splitting as people can be when it comes to who is saved and who is not.
