Insiders Go For Disney Stock
By Craig Columbus
President, insiderSCORES.com

This week's focus is on WALT DISNEY (DIS: research, earnings), operator of GO.COM (GO: research, earnings). Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Eisner bought 35,000 shares at $30. The significance of this purchase is that despite Mr. Eisner having served as Chairman and CEO since 1984, this is the first insider buy of WALT DISNEY he has made. Mr. Eisner instituted a number of initiatives to control spending and increase the focus on core properties, including the execution of the GO Network strategy.

On January 4, Morgan Stanley upgraded WALT DISNEY to Outperform from Neutral. The stock has just moved above its 200 day moving average for the first time since April but is still below its 52-week high. Disney's stock price had dropped throughout 1999 but Morgan Stanley states that it believes the company will recover in 2000. ?Eric Lopkin
