Kash - RE: "Willamette will have 2 rambus channels on chip - and whenever it comes out q4 2000-1H 2001 may be crippled if Rambus is a BUST."

I wonder what Intel will have as a back-up to DRDRAM. I doubt they are going to put all their eggs back in DRDRAM's basket AGAIN. 128MB costs $1000 and there is no guarantee the price will drop OVER 50% in nine months.

Maybe Intel will have a DDR SDRAM capable platform ready. But I don't know how that would work if Willy has 2 DRDRAM channels on the chip.

Kash - Re: "Intel has bet all its marbles on Rambus."

Not any more .

Intel should be introducing Solano - an i810e with 133 MHz SDRAM capability - some time this quarter.

Re: "Timna will have require Rambus for adequate performance in 2H 2000. If they use the MTH hub its performance will be slower than VIA's celeron clone."

You have apparently confused Timna with Willamette.

Timna has 2 Rambus memory controllers on-chip.

Re: "If you have a large percentage of assets in Intel (as i believe u do) you should at least be concerned. And it is way too early to assume that Intel has put its 99 screw ups behind it."

I have had the bulk of my assets in Intel for over 25 years. I had a stock broker who encouraged me to diversify about 20 years ago.

He's still a stock broker - and I retired 5+ years ago - and he's quite a bit older than I.

My only concern is trying to add to my Intel holdings. I recommend you try it - and see if you like it.
