Investor's Business Daily today reported that Merrill Lynch "gave a hand" yesterday to the big-name stocks by saying they would perform well in 2000 after a pullback in the first quarter.

IBD notes that that the stocks named (CMGI, YHOO, AOL, AMZN and the like) were all up yesterday by 10-18 percent.
Makes perfect sense that the brokers publicly plugged big stocks yesterday so they could sell them profitably for their clients today.
