I'm out of January Effect mode now, though. Today was too indicative of a major re-evaluation by "the professionals" who do 80% of the trading in the marketplace.

Huh? Let me get this straight- the January Effect doesn't actually happen in January but rather in November and December, and now that it *is January, it's time to go to cash (and presumably wait until NEXT November to get back in). But wait, there's more. Since you don't deal in specific issues but rather indicies, you need to own the NASDAQ in order to sell it. Even at $8.00 a trade, that's expensive. There must be a NASDAQ spider? So, your recipe is buy a NASDAQ spider every Halloween and sell it at the end of December?

If you have a tiny bit of conservatism in you, or if you're retired or near retirement, it's a good time to switch some money into cash (as I did today).

Okay so, what are you doing between now and November?
