>>Oh com'on! That is just not fair, take a look at the market as a whole.<<

Hi Mani-
Just my point! It was obvious to everyone at the time niceguy's post was made that this was going to be a very bloody day. But in keeping with his $300 share price predictions, and .53 Q4 earnings predictions, 767 predicted that AMD would have an UP day. My post was just a comment on his irrational exuberance.

Hi Mani:

Thanks but it's O.K...He is right! I underestimated the effect of long term bond rates over 6.50% and the amount of profit taking. Now that a new tax year is in place, it seems investors are willing to take profits, thus deferring tax payment by one year, that they weren't willing to take prior to the new year...Hopefully profit taking ran its course today and bonds will continue their retracement tomorrow and even get under that threshold of 6.50%, in which case, maybe the bargain hunters will be back in full force tomorrow...

In any event, I'm still holding my Jan 30 calls (as well as Apr. 30's and Apr. 32.50's (OK, fudd))in expectation of a runup before the Jan. 13(?) earnings announcement and a second runup when positive earnings of $0.32 (that's my estimate) are confirmed along with all kinds of goodies about AMD Y2000 expectations in the financial summary behind the positive earnings...I'm convinced we are only in the early stages of this techno jig and AMD is one of the companies at the vanguard of the techno jig evolution in Y2000!
