>>CHICAGO, April 15, 1999, Nanovation Technologies, Inc. today announced that it has successfully developed its first prototype optical switching devices.<<

Hate to admit I got this from the yahoo boards. Know anything about Nanovation? Apparently they're coming to market soon as an IPO.

Re:.Could it just be an indication of institutional selling while the individual sees no reason to panic?

VIX is a measure of the volatility of options. A nice explanation is below and another longer term graph as well. On the graph, if you notice around late '98, volatility peaked and we had a tremendous run up in the market following.

The VIX is from the CBOE and more info is at the following site.

You could probably look at it as people scrambling to hedge long or short positions using options when the market makes a big move.<g>

People can't stay away from this market and the speculative stocks---even after tax selling they will pour the cash back in.

I think you're right, after all, 6.5% bonds are a sad alternative to even mediocre performing tech stocks so it's hard to see what could compete with leading edge tech issues. <g>

Cheers,

Lee
