I haven't started looking at Feb prems yet.
I usually put one batch on about a month to expiry.
Then another batch about 2wks to X.
(JAN00 prems were so good in Dec, I don't even have to put on anymore and I am way OTM)

You have to look at stocks that are in the $100 or more range.
The more volatile the better, but ok, forget what I said about being comfortable owning the underlying... you have to want to own these stocks.

It's easy to find w/ nut stocks like YHOO, AMZN, CMGI.
QCOM... do I need to point that one out :-)
But here are some 'staple' stocks: ORCL, MOT, NT, AAPL

IMO, not only is the underlying important, but writing puts are appropriate under the right circumstances... what is that saying about when one owns a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail... well, NPuts is a great tool, but only in the right situations... if one starts treating everything like a nail, one might well become one :-)
