LMDS is a wireless system called Local Multipoint Distribution System. Spectrum was auctioned off by the FCC in late 97. LMDS is a local fixed point wireless two way distribution system for cable TV, high speed internet, and telephony. Also can handle video conference calls. One company for your communication needs and one monthly bill.

The internet speed surpasses T1 lines. The infrastructure is cheaper then a pure cable TV infrastructure. Most of the spectrum was bought by private investment groups. I had shares in CVUS and got out just before it cratered. After the auction and demise of CVUS I looked for other good investments in LMDS. I didn't find one, and lost interest. Don't get me started on the topic. I could write a short book on it from a layman's point of view.

Check LMDS out on a good search engine and you can read pros and cons about it until your eyes bleed.
