PB, thanks for your honesty, I always knew you were a common sense kind of guy!

<To cap all of this, I thought Andy Bryant made it pretty clear (unfortunately :-/) that if anything was causing weakness in the financials for Q3, it was the Coppermine / P858 delay. Intel still hit its range, but did seem to tacitly admit that the numbers would have been a little better if it weren't for that dastardly set of events.>

As a quid pro quo, here's my list of things that COULD mess up AMD in the future (not Q4'99, but later on):
1. Another (?) copper contamination problem in Fab 30.
2. Bad yields in Fab 30
3. A nasty erratum in Athlon
4. Not getting a new Tier 1 and business SKU's for Athlon (that includes HP) by March
5. Intel releasing Willamette early (before 8/1)
6. K62+ limited to 533 MHz
7. Design problems with on-chip cache Athlons or the Socket A platform
8. VIA dropping chipset support

Most of these are not show stoppers if corrected within 3 months but a combination of 2 or 3 could be critical.

Your iNhEL slant is showing. "If"?

It appears that you PB are reaching for the most convenient thing you can grasp. "The party line." But I would too if MY JOB depended on it. :o(

zdnet.com

"since Intel executives blamed Tuesday's subpar results in part on the delays in shipping its high-end Pentium III chips, code-named Coppermine."

I do hope "Andy" comes up with a new excuse this quarter.

I think iNhEL aluminum floppermine problems continue.

iNhEL is scrambling! (TM McMannis)

You may be better off financially if you and the church of iNhEL channeled more effort in saving your beloved Grove legacy before Barrett, Bryant, and Otellini lose it.

AMD will take care of itself!

Make it so,
Mysef

Good to see a level headed take on this issue from an Intel long perspective. I was starting to get boringly amused (if there is such a thing) at the emails on this earnings topic.
