CMRC and CSCO-------> Commerce One Joins Cisco Hosted Applications Initiative

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2000--

Alliance Enables Application Service Providers (ASPs)
to Ready Customers for Electronic Commerce

Commerce One, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMRC), the global leader in
business-to-business electronic commerce, today announced that it has
joined the Cisco Hosted Applications Initiative. Application service
providers (ASPs) deploying the Commerce One BuySite 5.0 Hosted Edition
electronic commerce offering rely on the combination of Commerce One's
leading software solution and Cisco Systems' intelligent Internet
infrastructure to meet and exceed customer requirements for
performance, security and reliability.
Launched in April 1999, the Cisco Hosted Applications Initiative
provides businesses of all sizes with access to powerful applications
that were previously beyond their reach. The initiative creates an
emerging ecosystem of software application vendors, hardware vendors,
ASPs, Internet service providers, co-location providers, system
integrators, and technology partners to deliver a variety of hosted
business applications.
"Commerce One's support of the Cisco Hosted Applications
Initiative demonstrates our commitment to enable ASPs to build and run
high-quality hosted e-commerce solutions," said Chuck Donchess, vice
president of marketing and business development for Commerce One. "We
believe that our leadership in electronic commerce coupled with
Cisco's intelligent Internet infrastructure will allow ASPs to offer
superior levels of e-commerce service and support."
Through the Cisco Hosted Applications Initiative, Commerce One
will deliver its BuySite 5.0 Hosted Edition via an optimized Cisco
application aware network solution and through highly skilled
initiative member ASPs. ASPs can install and host the application for
small and medium-sized businesses that lack e-commerce capabilities.
By deploying BuySite 5.0, ASPs can also enable their end customers to
access Commerce One MarketSite, the business-to-business electronic
marketplace, and the Commerce One Global Trading Web, a worldwide
network of business-to-business e-commerce portals.
"Commerce One brings proven leadership in global e-commerce to
the Cisco Hosted Applications Initiative," said Eugene Lee, vice
president marketing, Applications Technology Group, Cisco Systems.
"Many small and midsized businesses require the same
business-to-business e-commerce functionality as larger enterprises.
By working together we are ensuring that their needs are met and that
Commerce One's e-commerce solution is delivered with the highest level
of reliability and performance."
