<<QUALCOMM's residential/office Globalstar Fixed User Terminal will meet the communication demands for voice, facsimile and data transmissions,...>>

A lot of critics complain that G* can't deliver broadband. And it won't for a few years until the next constellation. But you can have 9.6K bps in a portable device this summer. I mean a real portable device--not the fixed user terminal built by Qualcomm. The development of a portable terminal is underway.

Did you really expect to view web pages on a handset? The present G* technology will provide me with all the portable connectivity I NEED when the portable user terminal becomes available. Maybe not the bandwidth I desire, but it will supply what I need. Mission critical web page content is available now at low data rates for Palm and CE portables using wireless local networks. You will be able to connect to the "mini-web" via G* soon.

Will G* become a utility stock like Gas, Water, Electricity and at low PEs? Never, IMO. This is still very much a technology driven sector. There is much building to be done to increase the system capacity through additional satellites and GWs. Then there are the next generation of satellites to provide higher bandwidths. No, this stock will not become a utility anytime in my foreseeable future.
