lee- nah, not at all a dummy. if it was an intra-day short, not covering it (even if it went down further) would have been dumb. and i suspect you only do 'short-term' (or points achieved) shorts, rather than longer-term ones. but you know that already, i'm sure... if i was a longer term investor, i'd be shorting amzn and pcln every time they hit a peak and went down. pcln, however, looks like it should rebound (and with the analysts coming out and screaming how wonderful it is, it could rebound)...
