It is very unlikely that Gates will mention GMGC tonight. Even though MSFT is a GMGC investor, that does not guarantee they will implement GMGC as the voice activated portal for MSN Mobile. He will be featuring the service on Sprint's network, and I've yet to hear of sprint getting involved in the vui world.

I happen to be working in the "wireless internet" arena, and know for a fact that voice portals on cell phones are on the horizon, but its still adistant horizon. Plus, there are many other voice plays out there right now...who wins remains to be seen.

enjoyed the run - hope it lasts!

I flicked through the channels and caught a little piece on CNBC about cars of the future. They profiled car computers and I heard one such computer that sounded like the Portico voice. Strange thing was it was a Ford car. Anyone else catch this?

Regards,

Mark

General Magic's web site remains an outdated mess, and Y2K bugs are nicely displayed in the third-party software running the Portico Information Exchange. All this if fine if you are selling the farm. IMO that may be about to happen. I'm guessing that AtHome, GM, and Microsoft could be in the hunt.

When and where is Bill Gates speaking? Tonight, at CES in Las Vegas, per this news from last night posted on the 3Com thread. Note that he is expected to announce the latest version of Auto PC.
