RESEARCH ALERT- PaineWebber ups Dell to attractive
NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - PaineWebber said analyst Don Young on Wednesday boosted his rating on Dell Computer Corp. (NASDAQ: DELL) to attractive from neutral and raised his share target price to $60 from $45.

-- the powerful PC analyst cited Dell leadership in business to business markets, an expected commercial PC sales recovery in 2000 driven by the introduction of Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows 2000 and small and medium business demand.

-- said Dell's growth runway was still strong, including international, notebooks and sales of "enterprise" equipment such as computer servers and high-volume data storage to companies.

-- Shares of Dell added 1-3/4 to 48-3/8 in heavy trading despite heavy selling pressure among Nasdaq stocks.
