RDSL

05 January 2000

China United Telecommunications (China Unicom) launched
the first part of its planned nationwide CDMA network on 01
January 2000. The network will compete with the GSM network
of China Telecom for an expected 175 mil new mobile customers
over the next 10 years.

The launch of the network means that Samsung Electronics (S
Korea) now leads the CDMA mobile market in China as it won
the contract to build the network.
