Bought AOL today. . . .now there is something new. . . but AOL has shown resiliance that impressed me in 1999. When they are dealt lemons, they seem to make good lemonade. . . and I like this whole Palm AOL thing. . .it makes good sense. . .especially sold in Wal-Mart stores. This is just plain good marketing, IMO.

I don't like AOL the service. . . never have. . . I don't like the way they transact business. . . but as I said many times, I buy what is in the greatest demand by fund managers. . .because it is their job to keep on buying their picks each day. . .

So many of my small caps were sold and money is mostly into the leaders in tech stocks. Now if we get the January Effect, where small caps outperform large caps, I'll be sitting on the sidelines twiddling my thumbs. . . but somehow, I don't think that is going to be the case.

I am loaded for bear here. . . using my portfolios as my guide. . . however, I have a few adjustments I'd like to make, now that I have seen the results of this shakeout.

To early for APLX? earnings warnings?

Business Wire

"it expects to (APLX)
report earnings in the range of $0.01 to $0.03 per diluted share for
the quarter. The Company experienced lower than expected revenues in
its older Applixware products, particularly in the U.S. Government
sector, and delays in closing a few front office solution deals in its
international markets. The Company expects to announce its final 1999
financial results on January 25, 2000."
