As Potasher points out just the $800 million gain in the sale of UMC stock almost equals the mkt. cap of SIII.

Does anyone know what UMC shares are trading at?

Jan

I hope it's not a taxable event. I don't think it would be until they sell the shares.

Anyway, on yahoo they are posting that according to an article on the street.com potts has said there maybe a significant dividend on the stock soon.
with 252 mill shares wouldn't that be nice!

Surprised the stock didn't react better. If things don't pick up soon, potts will bust us up on his own.

FWIW microsoft investor has a FYI up that earnings exceed analyst expectations for the second consecutive qtr. It's dated 1/3/00. Where they are getting that info i have no idea. Anyone hear anything about earnings recently?

GO S3!!

New Member, so please excuse any gaffs.
Have read the press releases and am still confused. Bus Wire Jan 5,2000 press release implies its an "accounting" entry and SIII still owns the USC shares,as opposed to the Bloomberg PR.
Could someone clearify this ???
