Les,

1. Only if there may be employment mobility between the two areas. I am sure that a physician would not be hired to replace me any time soon, nor would I be eligible to start practising as a surgeon.

2. I concede that 6.6% is a big increase, given that inflation is about 2.5-3.5%. Of course taxes take a bite out. Perhaps the excess money is going to inflate asset prices further. But that it not inflationary from a consumer POV.
