360 degree DVD loader................................dvdinsider.com Discovision Devises Breakthrough 2-Side Access DVD Changer - 1/5/00 Discovision Associates has developed a breakthrough DVD changer design that eclipses existing technology. Users will enjoy faster more convenient disc selection and playback through this innovation. Discovision Associates' Executive Vice President, Kenny Masaki, noted, ``Our new patent-protected design takes disc changer technology to a new level -- for the first time, users of desktop-sized models can play a 2-sided disc without having to turn it over manually. We're proud to offer this innovation to the electronics industry as a technology available for license to a limited number of companies.' The 2-Side Access DVD Changer improves on existing changer loading mechanisms and disc carousel design. In currently available players, a rotating carousel delivers the DVD to the reader for playback. The loading mechanism remains stationary. Discovision's 2-Side Access Changer reverses this design, using a 360-degree rotating loading mechanism to retrieve discs from a stationary disc carousel and flip the DVD over when necessary. This advance in DVD changer technology offers significant advantages and improvements over existing player designs: Eliminates manual turnover of discs required in current desktop-size changers, loads and changes discs faster than current technology, makes disc storage and loading convenient with removable disc carousels, simplifies production through use of less complicated components and offers patent protection to manufacturers. As DVD becomes the prevailing home theater format and DVD titles add interactive features and other information-intensive content, the 2-Side Access Changer's technology will provide the ease of use and convenience that consumers expect. Other DVD applications such as information storage and emerging home computer network systems will also require the speed and automatic two-side access afforded by this changer. Mr. Masaki of Discovision added, ``Our changer design is not limited to use with DVD or CD discs, but is also applicable to other media, such as credit cards or I.C. memory cards.' Discovision will debut the 2-Side Access Changer prototype for license in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show 2000 in Las Vegas January 6-8.
