Hi!!
RE: DELL's new consumer offerings may be taking a toll on GTW consumer sales. $ 4 of the 7 cents is probably the memory spike costs while the other 3 could be the DELL consumer hit.

75% increase at Dec. 19th ...Hits on DELL's site...

:o)

Best, Kemble

Jim -
the scuttlebutt I hear is that this was almost solely due to Intel starving GTW on chips. Rumor is that both CPQ and DELL put the arm on Intel for more allocation - and GTW (and Micron and some others) were the losers in the game of musical chairs. I think this was the basis for one of the analyst calls saying DELL might miss, but I would be amazed if Intel left DELL out on a limb. "Everybody else" seems more likely.

Jim, I suspect that Dell was not much of a factor for GTW's shortfall. My guess is that heavily discounted, stripped down consumer machines available at retail outlets was the major problem facing GTW. I agree with you that memory prices was probably a major factor.
