<Does this scare anybody here but me? I have said before that I have a hard time reconciling highend consumer demand. Most everyone I know who has bought computers lately have done so in that range and taken advantage of those ISP rebates. With no business SKU's for Athlon and the consumer sweetspot being $999-$1299...how is this good for AMD? >

Haven't you heard me harp about business SKUs? AMD needs to get some business SKUs pretty soon if they want to find homes for some high ASP Athlons.

P.S.: The $999-$1299 market is GREAT for K6 family. I am not complaining about that part.

Hi Cory:

AMD is just ramping up their Athlons...and it appears, based upon news today, that it couldn't have been better timed as, no doubt, at this stage in the production ramp up coupled with the INTC/GTW/Dell PWeeIII and Celeron(?) fiasco in Q4, Athlon demand has outstripped supply!

Earlier today on this thread, there was mention of dissatisfied customers being like paying for the advertising of competitors...Seems like Athlons are getting a lot of free advertising, that being the case.

(AMD management savvy methinks is evidenced by both the superior Athlon architecture and the timing of its introduction...Harvard business school speaking engagement invitation for Mr. Sanders should be in the mail soon!).

Cory, re:<With no business SKU's for Athlon and the consumer sweetspot being $999-$1299...how is this good for AMD? >

I share your concern. I've said many times on this thread that Athlon will be demand limited at about 2M units unless there are some business SKU's. AMD has about 1 month max to line that up, IMO.
