Pure internet retailers are also in serious trouble from brick and mortar companies that start getting the hang of the internet. eToys supposedly was going to vanquish Toys R Us. Guess what, after Toys R Us revamped their web site, traffic skyrocketed and now it is threatening eToys with oblivion. It is not rocket science getting a great web site up: all you have to do is copy an existing great one.

When the brick and mortars learn how to effectively leverage their brick and mortar infrastructure with the internet, pure internet retailers are toast. Brick and mortars already have the warehouses, and already have the brand. Amazon figured this out and is rapidly building brick and mortar warehouses, but it may not be able to get up to Wal-Mart size economies of scale in time. In the meantime Wal-Mart's internet sales are skyrocketing.

>>>I'm looking hard for the ones that will...<<<

Michael, of the computer pc maker mania stocks of 1983, only one company made it out of the shakeout, that was Apple Computer. The successful boxmakers came later after the pioneers were all lying face down with an arrow in their back.

The same thing happened to the automakers early in the century, i think there were 400 or something of them, now only the big three (maybe two since chrysler got eaten -g-)

It's quite possible that 95% or more of this current crop of pure play internets won't be around in 10 years, maybe even 99%.
