Awesome!!! This Sony deal must mean excellent licensing revenue for TiVo from Sony. Does anyone have any figures?

It also seems to push them (TiVo via Philips) to offer an upgraded model by the end of the year or sooner. The capability to transfer to VHS tape alone is reason enough to hold off buying the Philip's version in favor of the Sony version. Regardless of what happens, it's all good news for the TIVO investor:-)

Peter,

Great news for all of us longs. The Sony connection is a great one to have. I wonder if they will eventually tie it into the PlayStation II? I like the ability to transfer to tape. I always thought that feature should have been there in the first place.
