Re: "As far as the "Demand is good" line Intel continually spouts... Well, it can be interpreted many ways to put it mildly. "

No it can't Jim. With the scarcity of all products across the board you would have to believe that #1 .18u yields are in the toilet and #2 .25u yields have crashed as well. With about 12 huge fabs running and a shortage of products the only alternative to huge demand is that Intel is digging a big hole and dumping their parts into it. This is just too obvious to be ignored. Look at the other behind the scenes action.

Intel has filed to expand their Ocatillo Az Fab 12.
Intel has announced they are recomissioning their mothballed Fab 5 for Flash production.
Intel has announced they are converting their Hudson MA fab, aquirred from DEC to run Intel's newest process.

Intel is bursting at the seams and nobody seems to notice.

Jim - RE: "Lost in all this is the loss of Intel credibility and ability to convince boxmakers they can lead them to the promised land."

Intel seems to becoming more like the AMD of old.
