Re: "What makes you so sure Mustang will be a dud next to Willy?"

I can't be sure, but how else am I going to tweak your nose?

Re: "? Intel has bet Willy's performance on a chipset that will demand DRDRAM, but what if prices don't fall? Maybe Intel will have a DDR SDRAM capable chipset also available, but if Willy's platform was designed for DRDRAM from the get-go I would think DDR SDRAM would lower Willy's performance."

DRDRAM is about reduced pincount. You can get the same memory bandwidth with DDR SDRAM if you want to pay the price in packaging and MB traces. You are right in that Intel is betting a lot on DRDRAM prices falling.

Re: "I'll wait for info to come out of the IDF and let the people who know about processors write articles about it before I even give a thought about Willy turning any Athlon derivative's lights out."

Good! Then we can all talk about it. I am not an expert on processor architecture and I couldn't begin to do it justice.
