God's forgiveness is absolute. Those who receive God's offer of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ receive His unabated love and mercy. Because the death of Jesus pays for the sins of those who believe in Him, God does not deal "with us according to our sins, nor punish us according to our iniquities" (Psalm 103:10). God's mercy toward us is as high "as the heavens are high above the earth" (v. 11). He removes our sins from us "as far as the east is from the west" (v.12), which is an infinite distance. When God in Christ forgives our sins, our sins are gone!
