Hi david alexander:

To paraphrase Ben Anixer (from August '99), a key AMD manager, there will be a continuing stream of good news stories for AMD over the foreseeable future now that the Athlon has successfully been brought to market.

Yesterday's goodies...HP and implied GTW endorsements lend even more credence to Salomon Smith Barney's 40% increase in estimated Athlon Y2000 production of 12.5 million units.

As Scumbria pointed out, today's CES demonstration of an 800 Mhz Athlon is at least as exciting as the HP and implied GTW stories...not to mention the demo of a room cooled 900 Mhz Athlon which is rumoured to be at the same CES!

Offsetting the foregoing outstanding "fundamental" news, of course, is the ongoing volatility in general market conditions with overseas markets having suffered another bludgeoning last night, albeit dampened by about 50% from the bludgeoning 2 days ago!

Despite the skittishness of the general market, I just get that feeling that with yesterday's HP and implied GTW news coupled with the unveiling of the 800 Mhz Athlon at today's CES, that AMD price suppression is nearing its end. If not today (must overcome general market negatives), then very very soon!

(I'm at it again, fudd...but I know you wouldn't want me to suppress truly felt beliefs).
