Basically new investors got their emails. Put in buy market orders, so when the stock opened on Monday the market makers had a TON of buy orders and less sell orders. So they had to execute the trades a much higher price till supply & demand evened out, they virtually have free reign keep raising the bid/ask until sellers appear or they themselve feel like selling.

So lesson #1 is never put in a market order before the open of a trading day, ESPECIALLY is there is big news during the weekend which could gap the stock up or down. There is more info about this on my investing website.

<<thanks for the sympathy - this is exactly what happened to me. could you explain why? Dont want to repeat the experience. thanks>>
