Just different, of course....I respect the higher mammals generally. For example, I believe that the taboo against eating dogs, although not as powerful an injunction as the one against cannibalism, is good. But I am reluctant to put any animal on par with human beings, much less allege its superiority, without ironclad proof. Rather than exalting the other animal, I think the end result is to cheapen humanity......

William --

If it is assumed that dolphins are at least as intelligent as humans, have a system of communication and extraordinary sensitivity to sound -- why do they get caught in fishing nets? I think they would learn to avoid the sound of a certain class of boats.

Another limitation would seem to be lack of written language. Perhaps they do great research but can take no notes. Have to keep starting over.

I don't know much about dolphins but enjoy them hugely. Almost every evening I "walk" with them as it is common for them to swim barely off the beach at that time of day.
