You take a value approach... which I can't disagree with. It's very sound. But I think one needs to temper "value" with projected growth given markets, market share, and technology. Especially in this market. I do believe that there a lot of investor that simply are buying based on momentum without really understanding the underlying companies however this momentum (I believe) is first created by those that do. It's tough to generalize on this but if you take away the IPO's the stocks that have high valuations do so because of expectations of strong growth in strong markets with an additional layer of exhuberant uninformed investors.
