In apes it is often males- primarily males taking over females that have young sired by other males. And of course we can see this behavior in humans- with stepfathers and boyfriends being the most dangerous people to be around young children. I have read that the rates of abuse by stepfathers and boyfriends are incredibly high compared to other types of individuals who might interact with a child- since there is a biological reason (almost surely) should we wonder at this type of abuse?

I WISH people would USE this type of data to become more careful- it isn't an indictment of all stepfathers and boyfriends but it SHOULD give mothers cause to be more vigilant, and protecting the children REALLY protects the potentially abusive male from doing something he is predisposed to do but might not rationally want to do.

No idea why you're asking ME this stuff. Doesn't seem to relate to anything I've said. M
