<<Compaq says PIII-800 "processor are not yet available">> In honor of the imaginary substance that supposedly fills all free space in the universe, the substance through which all electromagnetic radiation propagates, I dub the FlopperMine 800 the title of...

ETHERmine.
proper pronunciation is EETH-ER-MINE

Its really there, we just can't see it. Its necessary to propagate the Grove/Ottellini ego.

Chuck - RE: "Isn't it funny how Dell (Intel's best and most-preferred customer) said 20-30 days in Dec 20 press release but when Kap called in got a 2/7 date and now Nes.com reports "more than a month" today - i.e., 1/6/00?"

Dell must have said that in the original press release to make sure they got enough PII 450s and PIII 500s. ;)

"And, didn't I get a lot of flack for saying 800MHz volumes will showup in February/March?"

Yup. And the 733 has only gotten around on Pricewatch lately.

"Watch my words: Intel is one full speed grade behind AMD now and will be 2-3 speed grades behind by the time Intel gets 800 into volumes."

Intel will have 850 and 866MHz announced by then, and the cycle will start again. ;)
