anasonic representative Jeff Cove said that the VDR-1000 DVD-RAM recorder will be available by summer at an estimated cost of $3000, but stressed that pricing is subject to change. It's important to note that although this machine can make DVD recordings, those recordings can only be played back on a DVD-RAM device. Forget about playing it back on the soon-to-arrive DVD-RW and DVD+RW machines. (Just a "caveat emptor," but if you can afford $3000 for a digital disc recorder, in the first place, who cares?)
