That is absolutely the worst, most shallow, poorly researched and unsubstantiated hatchet job I have ever read on Globalstar.

If intentional, he should be prosecuted for fraud. If ignorant, it is unbelievable that he has the credibility to be published and that he is trusted with his client's money.

Unbelievable.

From our "moron of the day" at worldlyinvestor.com :

<<Wishful Thinking

There is also talk of Globalstar becoming a service wholesaler to the terrestrial telecom providers.
>>

Um -- that is what Globalstar does ...

Clearly this guy does not know what he is talking about.

<<But I think these potential customers will more likely use the satellite-linked pay phone stations that are popping up instead of a satellite phone.>>

(Once again ...) Um -- that is what Globalstar does ! They produce satellite-linked pay phone stations (as a complement to their portable handsets).

Has this "expert" even glanced at Globalstar's website ever ?

Hope his money management firm is short G*.

Jon.

I wrote the author of that article, basically mentioning the large territories uncovered by cellphones, and that the price of G* communication will come down with time (as with most technology -- even cellphones). Unfortunately, I did not save a copy of my email. In any regard, I received the following response from Mr. Baker.

Thought that the thread would be interested.

Bob:

You make some valid points but the problem with GSTRF is that the biz model
was developed over 10 yrs ago and is no longer economically feasible.

I think most GSTRF (angry with me) are totally missing the point and are not
using any common sense. The fact of the matter is that 95% of all wireless
users (I am being very conservative) are in or near a major population center
with no need EVER for satellite service. How many people do you think there
are on oil rigs, ships or in Iowa cornfields anyway. My article you accuse of
being riddled with half truths and errors, but I do not believe this to be
the case.

You seem very sharp and of all people you should appreciate the pace of
rapidly evolving technology and my primary contention is that new terrestrial
wireless technologies are going to provide superior, CHEAPER solutions that
have a life expectancy >10yrs as is the case with GSTRF's fleet. You should
check out Lucent, Cisco and Nortel. Yes, LU now has wireless fiber... yes a
entirely new wrinkle.

Bottom line: GSTRF will never ever be able to get enough subs to justify
their multibillion mkt cap. I would be skeptical of this even if they WERE
PRICE competitive with existing players.

Best.
