If every one kept their money on long bonds and every bussiness is closed and the market cap is invested in long bond then the worth of the bonds will drop so fast that they wont have value at all. It is the dollar that makes the bond worth their value and it is the bussinesses in the economy that make the dollar worth owning.

Tulips are worth the value only when there are people willing to exchange them for something that they have and is worth something.
