I like your theory, too. I doubt very much that women came up with fairy tales that involve, say, vaginas dentata.

I wonder which ones we can say were written by women? Surely the one about the frog/prince. "If only you take me into your bed, and lay me on your pillow, and kiss me, I will turn into a prince." Riiiight.

And the one about the Little Red Hen: "I planted the seeds, I tended the crop, I harvested the wheat, I milled the flour, I made the bread, and I am going to eat it all by myself!" What a fantasy! Of course, we won't really eat it all by ourselves, but we'll wish we could (sometimes).

And Cinderella, now that's a real fantasy come true for a woman! Her fairy godmother helps her to marry a prince, and the wicked stepmother and stepsisters get their come-uppance! Hooray!
