Henry,

The interesting part about this is that Alfa Wasserman is actually paying money up front to enter into a distribution agreement with Ligand. One would presume they're fairly confident that they'll make it back pretty soon. Do you recall if Ligand decided on a sales force of their own anywhere in Europe? This is just the Italian market. I suppose you could view it as a repeat of the Allied Invasion of Europe. Italy first and then through the only useable passes into the heartland of Europe :-)

Nice as it is, this is still a small piece of news and if that's all the dry powder they have, they'll be laughed out of H&Q so let's hope....

Thanks, Torben

Henry,

LGND definitely seems to gaining momentum from a business perspective. As you know, there are so many programs at LGND that an active news flow is not surprising now that more of them are reaching market launch or later stage development. I expect more news in the near future, possibly prior to the H&Q session. Given the hot biotech market right now, major positive news from LGND may well ignite an upward price explosion.

Best regards,

Walter
