Marginmike ... how about a more down to earth approach to investing in TODAY's market ....

from a daily Reuters news cap re: today's tech sell-off ....

''Investors are selling Yahoo! to buy Caterpillar,'' said Charles Pradilla, chief investment strategist at SG Cowen Securities in New York.

Why own the future - when you can dig up the past !!

I wish I could help your cause, but I didn't act fast enough at $199 and don't have any spare change attm. You're absolutely right ... best time to buy Q is now !!

If Q hits $110 I will certainly be buying more and extending my margin be a few more percentage points. Don't get my hopes up with $110. That would be awesome! My limit order is already in. For those who don't like this. What's the big deal, unless you trade for a living and don't know how to profit from downturns or if you need the money tomorrow, then I can understand why you are throwing up and having convulsions.

>>Well folks its time again, we will probably see as low as 110 in the AM. At this point BUY THE SHIT OUT OF Q. <<

Sorry "shit buying" starts at $125.

Thank-you marginmike, Voltaire and others with investment experience to give us newcomers to the world of Wall Street some perspective. I've read lots of books on investing but the information I receive from this thread and the G&K thread has been much more valuable. I would never have had the B#%ls to hold QCOM, JDSU, etc. if it hadn't been for all of you. I keep asking myself at times like these if the reasons I bought the stocks have changed, if not then don't sell. Simple, but so hard to ignore the fear. It's funny - when QCOM is flying it feels like it's always going to be that way, and the same when it's dropping. I never dreamed the stockmarket would have so much to do with psychology! Thanks again for taking the time to educate others - I hope someday I can do the same.

"Qcom in the past would always revist the 50DMA each quarter." When? Look at a chart - are you talking about last 2 quarters? It will be due for a bounce and that may be around 100. But its got to digest the runup eventually and it looks like its during the 1st half of 2000.

Mike, that was the best post I've seen in a very long time. Thank you for that.

I don't know what the rest of you are doing, but I am going through my portfolio tonight and deciding which positions to dump (at a loss if necessary) to pick up more QCOM and JDSU.
I am going for 2002 Leaps on the Q...stock on JDSU (probably via OCLI).

As Clint once said...
DROP YOUR STOCKS AND GRAB YOUR Q! (or something like that).

Hello Mike,

I want to thank you very much for your earlier post on the Q thread. I appreciate you taking the time to give us the benefit of your experience here and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than most that I have been reading

I only wish I was more versed on the option call plays here to take advantage of it. Still too new at it to take a big plunge.

Thanks again for the calm voice in the storm out there. I am glad someone is keeping their head here. BTW I will be backing up the semi to load up if indeed it hits 110 tomorrow.

Joel

Appreciate your post very much. While I have not incurred a paper loss as much as yours, it is a lot more than I would have thought I could tolerate a year ago this time. At the high (last Friday/Monday) my accounts were nearly triple what they were this time last year and are still more than double that. If I cannot take the pullbacks with some of the same grace as the appreciation, I should be spending my time in a real job.

Let's be thankful for what we have, not too greedy in pursuing what we want and, if we have the means at the moment, enjoy the buying opportunity that is being presented to us.

Respectfully....
