What happens if tomorrow's employmnet report comes out weaker than expected? That along with new home sales declining...where does everyone come off saying that the Fed. will definately raise by quarter to fifty basis points? The Fed. won't do squat without real inflationary pressure. If these numbers come out weaker than expected what are the chances of all the talking heads and Fed. watchers saying "no rate hike in February" or "the quarter point rise is already priced into the markets" and we see the futures go from deep in the red to green and there is panick buying instead of selling? That would seriously fake out a lot of people (including myself). I personally think that once a buy signal is given (whenever that may be) people will be knocking each other over trying buy some of the stocks that they missed out on before or that they sold over the last three days. Everyone who has been investing for any reasonable period of time knows that the best performing stocks recover first and the quickest.

"Consumers bought new homes in November at a slower-than-expected pace and the number of Americans filing jobless claims rose, the government said on Thursday, offering signs the economy may have begun to slow.

The housing data reinforced the notion that after a record, boom year for real estate in 1999, the sector may be a drag on the economy this year."

You and Voltaire hit it on the nose. There is no inflation. It is pure hype and psychological manipulation/garbage. They were predicting a rate hike back in November (for February) after the last Fed. meeting before three months of data even came out. What happens when the data doesn't support their forecast? No accountability. They ought to have a paying scale based on performance (along with professional athletes) to weed out the knuckleheads.

mm,

Couldn't agree more. I was the one getting laughed off the thread Summer when I though we would touch the 50 day MA around 35 or so. We did and that's when I put 100% in Q. I said it recently and here we are again....

Load 'em up. I just don't have any more money! <gg> I was a bit early in my buying.

Just got back in from a full slab and a few Guinness, you ought to try it, it works!
