I was just thinking this AM before the open about buying some LU. Looks like I will get my chance tomorrow and on sale.

Timing is everything.

I agree completely that many companies are going to be doing some buying this quarter and next. Looking to get a bunch of other hardware plays too.

Good Luck

Thurston

Large cos bought a lot of stuff prior to Y2K to make sure everything was Y2K OK. I think PC hardware will tank, as the world moves to Palms and wireless appliances, IMHO.

most companies held back from purchasing equipment because the Y2K threat.

I have heard a lot of that kind of thing, but my own observation has been that a lot of companies bought equipment to sidestep the Y2K problem. One university system simply bought new boxes (computers) and equipment anywhere the fix wasn't simple. The capitol spent on Y2K could defer spending in some areas short term. As for LU, they missed by not being in sync with the customer, its the old case of not being able to see their shoes for their belly. I'll be holding my LU only because $50 a share is a bargain mid term and I can't time the market worth a damn.

"...The company also faced problems in keeping up with customer demand for sophisticated fiber optic equipment. Lucent plans to resolve its manufacturing constraint problems by the end of the second quarter by working with subcontractors or partners, and adding capacity and staff internally, McGinn said..."
