Hi Rand:

I encoutered similar experiences in local computer stores...I think what impressed me most was the general theme from salespersons that they would recommend an AMD system over an Intel system to any "open-minded" consumer on both a price and performance basis for an equivalent system!

Intel's stranglehold on many vendors seems to have been the result of the lack of competition for PWeeIII in the higher tiered markets prior to the introduction of the Athlon (a mere 6 months ago)...i.e PWeeIII supply constraints always a possibility where the party line not towed...Now with the Athlon, not only as an alternative, but the better choice, vendors, GTW being a prime example, have no reason to remain solely in the intel fold...In fact, vendors now risk losing market share unless they can offer something other than what, next to the Athlon, appears to be a "tired and worn" architecture! Looks like Mr. Sanders is counting on the "laws of economics" rather than the "judicial system" to address the existing inequities in the industry...seems Mr. Sanders is rapidly achieving success in his wise and least cost response to the Intel behemoth!
