AMZNs deathwatch,...

It is going down slowly, but... it does not look good.

Unless Bezos pulls out a nice trick or a great idea, it should go down even more....$40 (??)

Amazon Drops After Revenue Shortfall

By Nicole Volpe

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares in online retailer Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMZN - news) fell as much as 15 percent on Thursday to their lowest price since December 1998, as investors lost patience after a second-quarter revenue shortfall.

Shares in Amazon, which is seen as a bellwether for the entire online retailing sector, closed down 4-11/16 to 31-3/8 in heavy trade on Nasdaq.

``It was a disappointing quarter, leading some we spoke with to say the conference call 'was like attending a wake,''' Dain Rauscher Wessels analyst George Sutton wrote in a note to clients. ``It was painful to listen to this top-tier Internet brand admit it does have issues maintaining its growth, given its size.''

AMZN and Wal-mart.

Ultimately, and oversold as the market is it can lead to some fireworks in AMZN trading, including a temporary 50% gain in AMZN stock. This does not necessarily mean that WMT is buying out AMZN or whether AMZN will be viable in the long run.
It reminds me a bit on the CDNW deal.

Much more, I stick with my opinion that AMZN stock might expire worthless. AMZN has never earned a penny and will not earn a penny. As stated in the press release, WMT will also not invest money in AMZN with certainty but a deal will surely benefit WMT.

I could be wrong, however.

-----------------------------------------------------------

As a remainder, I throw in last year's AMZN post and I see that it is the money that counts...:

Gentleman,
I may throw in AMZN.

Institutionals: not too much, especially on a net basis.

Weak sector. Consumer internet has significantly cooled off.
Sector mates are at year if not all time lows.

The gorilla is to become a chimp. The knee jerk reaction on blowout revenues (!= earnings) is an important sign. The prospectus of a dimming junk bund market is not really a support for AMZN to raise cash.

The Deutsche downgrade is justified and should add fuel.

I expect it to test the August low, which is around 41.

Once it is on the demise, the uncontrolled selling by individual shareholders can exacerbate the downward pressure.
