re: QCOM - the paine webber analist I believe is 28 yrs old with a big 4 yrs experience on "the street". The $1000 target is quite arbitrary and its timing coincident with the largest divergence in history between growth & value stocks in terms of valuation in the face of rising interest rates was almost like a bell ringing to begin the selloff. It is like biotech reports that use a 2007 eps estimate discounted to today using a 30% interest rate. Why not 2006 eps estimate? or 2005? or a 27% discount rate, or 33%? The answer is that they are not your friends.
