Maxtor shares set to rise-Business Week

Thursday January 6, 6:35 pm Eastern Time

NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Hard disk drive maker Maxtor Corp's
(NasdaqNM:MXTR - news) stock could surge soon as the company unveils
some new products and a personal computer maker negotiates to buy a stake in
the company, Business Week's ''Inside Wall Street'' column said on Thursday.

The magazine reported the company is ready to unveil new Web enabling and Linux storage server products.
Linux, an alternative operating system to Microsoft's Windows, is popular with Web developers.

Business week said the personal computer maker would be able to help fund Maxtor's disk drive and Linux
storage server business.

Maxtor's shares closed up 3/32 at 7-1/8 on Thursday on the Nasdaq stock market.
