For you or anyone else who may argue that I insist on being a burden to my kids, I say tough.

Of course thats what you say. Which is precisely why I feel the way I do about the elderly. They disgust me - and I would like to see them leave my state. Maybe the computer companies make goods and services so expensive that they have to move - well, I can dream anyway. Lord knows their greedy pov has done enough damage to the infrastructure of California.

Wrt stock options, my point is that if you are going to cut capital gains to the BARE BONES tax-wise then that should apply to all equity - not just passive investing. And we all know who has passive capital gains - the elderly. The young have stock options and those get treated as income now... well what do you know if an elderly person makes 1mm in the markets they pay NO medicare and if a young person makes a million in options its a medicare tax bonanza... why am I not surprised?
