That's why I can't post it. The transistor count was displayed on a banner in an Intel facility's cafeteria, honoring the tapeout last July. It was viewable by any visitor with or without an NDA agreement (dumb if you ask me). That's why I felt free to post it. Suffice to say the die is VERY BIG. Few companies but Intel could yield any good die. Intel is not looking to make big money on the first incarnation of Itanium. It needs to establish a presence first. The profits will come later.
