Careful Paul, the enemy to x86 profits (as opposed to the x86 standard) is a lot closer to home than JAVA. You're very close when you speak of thin clients though. I've seen a lot Citrix/Microsoft boxes showing up in shops lately. It appears there are more and more administrators becoming fed up with the task of managing software on individual workstations. If this trend continues, the CPU market will consist of the very high end and the very low end and not much in between.

Paul,

x86 processors haven't been produced since the last few days of 1995.

As predicted, RISC proved to be too powerful and blew x86 out of the water. Did you know that there are now PowerPC processors which run faster than 400 MHz?!!!

Read the thread. The Java point was already brought up.

I don't know, but I don't think I'm using Java to write this post. SI is a processor-independent application. I don't see much stopping, and I see a lot encouraging, the development of basic web-based applications that are processor-independent.
