Sellers here @45-50 simply don't know what they are doing.

I do appreciate their contributions to bargain-hunters like myself though! I thank you, ignorant sellers.

Comments from SSB and ML on VTSS in relation to LU's pre-announcement:

Most of Vitesse Semiconductor's exposure is in DWDM and SONET optical networking equipment. The DWDM/SONET product transition and manufacturing outsourcing by Lucent have been problems for Vitesse over the last few quarters, but component deliveries appeared to have picked up again in the December quarter. Indeed, Lucent yesterday indicated very strong demand for its new 80 channel OC-192 system, and the manufacturing bottlenecks are short-lived, we believe Lucent should not be a major factor for Vitesse....... Salomon Smith Barney

Vitesse Semiconductor is the one company under our coverage that could be impacted by Lucent's problems. However, with no inventory on hand at Lucent, and with Lucent needing VTSS's OC-192 parts, VTSS should avoid any impact to its March quarter if Lucent resolves its problem quickly............
